MFC in the news!

Newspaper folded to show the upper half of the back page, on which is a headline ‘A mighty sword’ and a photo of the three coaches facing the camera and smiling. In the background of the photo are several fencers are bouting. The easter egg is two of the members facing eachother and fighting with different weapons – left fencer with sabre and right fencer with epee. Obvs this is never done, so now you know that all the fencers in the background were called back as they were packing up after a busy training session to pose for this pic!

Recently three of MFC's dedicated volunteer coaching team – alessandra, Miya and myself – were interviewed for the Blue Mountains Gazette. The article is now out! You'll find it in Wednesday 17 February 2021 edition of the Gazette – it's the leading article of the Sports section, prominently displayed on the back page. The online article, which is slightly longer, is here.

Special thanks go to Richard Emmerick for putting us in touch with the journalist and consistently supporting the women at MFC in leadership positions, Dan Carter for taking an excellent pic and the journalist, Ilsa Cunningham, for being so friendly and curious about the Club.

I'm incredibly proud of the way MFC provides such an inclusive and friendly space for anyone to explore what fencing can be for them – this article is testament to the excellence of our community. Well done everyone!

And finally, one for the easter egg hunters. Two of our members were making mischief in the background that night. Do you see it?
