Thanks Australian Sports Foundation!

In the top left of the image is a large orange dot with a pale purple border with the text 'Thanks ASF!' in white on the orange dot.

It's here! Check out the new gear we have in the Club for 2021 – a second mask rack packed with 30 new foil, epee and sabre masks in sizes to fit our growing number of young fencers across all weapons, plus new 800N FIE plastrons that allow us to keep pace with changing safety standards in fencing.

Wonder how a low-cost, volunteer-run, not-for-profit Club like MFC could afford such excellent fencing gear? Basically, we couldn't, not without radically increasing fees or cutting back on venue bookings anyway. So how did we do it? We asked our friends at the Australian Sports Foundation if they could help through their grants program and they said they could. The new gear is the result of that excellent partnership.

Australian Sports Foundation's support is a reminder of the great networks MFC is a part of. Obviously there's the community of fencers, both in our local area and across NSW and Australia, but there's also the broader sports community that we draw support from and contribute to in our turn. As one of my close friends says, fencing isn't fencing, fencing is sport – MFC is part of a broader world and those partnerships make us stronger.

Thanks Australian Sports Foundation for helping us equip our growing team of young fencers and expand our capacity to offer fencing to young people!
