Fencing yesterday, tomorrow and tomorrow's overmorrow*

Ah! It's good to be back inside.

Yesterday, our first session back was excellent! Footwork, fencing games, collegiality, swords. All those great fencing things. Plus a fascinating bit of theory that Joe wrote on t̶h̶e̶  his whiteboard. I know he's pretty good with a sword, even two at the same time, but he's also pretty handy with a whiteboard marker. Maybe we should call him Whiteboard Joe!

Fencing training, indoors but without bouts, continues on Saturday and Monday. On Saturday we'll be returning to our regular times and groups, starting at 9.30am. On Monday training will be from 7–8.30pm, bringing it in line with our popular Thursday sessions. You can find the times of all our training sessions here.

As group sizes are limited pre-registration is still necessary for Saturday and Monday.

You'll notice that we've restructured the groups into Stage 01, Stage 02 and Open teams. This new structure aligns the groups with school years to facilitate participation and engagement. Read more about the new structure here. This restructure of the groups is intended as a phased-in change, so your child can remain in their current group if they're happy there.

Saturday 9.30–10.30am, Stage 01 (school years 1–5) > Register
Saturday 10.30–11.30am, Stage 02 (school years 6–8) > Register
Saturday 11.30am–1pm, Open (school year 9 to adults) > Register
Monday 7–8.30pm, Stage 02 and Open > Register

What happens next Saturday? Something very exciting indeed. But more about that in a future post…

Hint: it involves bouting, and bunting, and teams of fencers, and exhibition matches, and taking on someone bound for the Olympics.

*overmorrow: the day after tomorrow
