Wanted: Club Quartermaster

 

Want to volunteer in a new way at MFC? Ever felt at a loose end on a Saturday morning while the kids run off and have all the fun? Want to be closer to the fencing action? Always felt you need a cool title and people should bow when you walk by?*

Well, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for – MFC Quartermaster!

The Club is looking for an MFC Quartermaster to start in 2021. The Quartermaster will be responsible for seeing that all essential supplies for the Club are available at all times to keep the wheels turning smoothly. Things like hand sanitiser, sanitising spray for the equipment, gloves, duct tape, paper towel, batteries etc. You'd need to track stock levels of all these things and order in more as required. The Club will provide you a list of products and suppliers and reimburse you for all costs involved.

I won't lie – it's a big job and requires dedication and vigilance. With COVID rules (and we don't expect those rules to change for a long while yet, if ever) we go through vast quantities of these things. Imagine what would happen if we ran out of hand sanitizer or sanitising spray? Fencing would stop, that's what. Rule are rules.

Up to now these tasks have been seen to by fencers and coaches but with the radical increase in membership we've seen through 2020 we now need a dedicated person. If you're interested come talk to myself or alessandra at training or email vicepresident@mountainsfencingclub.org.au

*Note: insisting on people bowing in your presence may negatively impact on your chances of being selected, but I'm willing to talk about it. You do get a cool title though!
