Imogen on the fast track – with a cane!

Coach Imogen Waugh, well coach Doctor Imogen Waugh actually (not that kind of doctor, but she's useful all the same), looking very cool in blacks! She's standing in the fencing hall holding her coaching mask under her right arm, wearing a purple headscarf and smiling at club founder Richard who is out of shot to the side. Behind her some sabreurs are bouting. Did you know that she can coach all three weapons both left and right handed? I know right?! What a showoff! Epee is her weapon of choice though and she's pretty damn good at it!
Congrats to our fabulous coach and president Imogen, for being accepted into the Fast Track for Female Coaches course!

The program is run by Sport NSW and ACPE and offers enhanced coaching knowledge and skills to support female coaches to develop their coaching approach and advance their coaching practice. There were many more applicants than places in this course and it's so excellent that she was selected!

You might know that Imogen lives with a disability (sharing this with her permission), you might even see her walking with a cane sometimes (no, not a sword-cane, she wishes!). MFC facilitates development for fencers of all abilities and Imogen will be using the course as an opportunity to help enhance the Club ethos of inclusivity by exploring coaching approaches for variously abled fencers.

We look forward to Imogen sharing the insights and skills she'll be gaining from the course when* we get back to training!

*Yep, I said when, coz it looks like we'll be able to resume when NSW reaches the 70% double dose vaccination target. This could be as early as the week commencing 11 Oct. We're in communication with Council and keeping an eye on the government announcements and will keep you posted!
