LGBTQI+ inclusivity in the limelight

Pride in Sport team and coach Imogen have a giggle while setting up for the shoot

Pride in Sport were at MFC today to film some of our members as part of a campaign for LGBTQI+ inclusion in sport, as a follow up to our 'come and try' event in July

Ben from Pride in Sport, along with Chris and Dave from TRC Media, interviewed three fencers and me as we’d participated in the MFC 'come and try' event. We shared our diverse experiences of fencing, our appreciation of being welcomed into a safe and inclusive training environment, and our advice to others in the LGBTQI+ community who may want to get involved in the sport. Then the crew filmed the training session, with the usual noisy fun of coaching and bouting!

Fencing is just one sport of many involved in Pride in Sport, and MFC is also committed to working with our team, our members and our state and national sporting bodies to support LGBTQI+ inclusivity in fencing. Together, MFC is making a difference!
